Advocacy Service

I.S.E.A (Scotland)'s Independent Specialist Advocacy Service has been established as a direct consequence of new legislation the "Additional Support for Learning (Scotland) Act 2004". This act along with the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 (as amended), governs the education of children and young people with Additional Support Needs (formerly known as Special Educational Needs).

If a parent disagrees with a Local Authority's decision regarding the provision or services to meet their child's/young person's Additional Support Needs, there wil now be, as a result of the combination of both the old and the new legislation, a number of appeals/systems which can be accessed (see links for examples).
